The Social and Historical Research Laboratory was established according to a ministerial decision issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under No. 222 dated 07/13/2009. It consists of four research teams: The Religious Practices in Algeria, headed by Prof. djaadouni zahra, the Central Maghreb: History and Civilization Team, headed by Prof. blel rym, the Linguistic Dictionary for Algerian Youth, headed by Prof. Maachou Djilani Kobibi, and the Maghrebs: History and Civilization, headed by Prof. khelifi bachir. The laboratory is situated in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the third university pole in Sidi Said in the city of Mascara. More than one hundred researchers in various scientific specializations in the field of humanities and social sciences are affiliated to the laboratory; most of them hold the status of permanent members. They are a category of researchers belonging to the University of Mascara, including professors with the rank of full professors and assistant professors. Doctoral students belonging to the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences benefit from membership in the laboratory as temporary researchers, and other participating researchers belonging to other national universities. The laboratory was headed by Prof. Abid Boudaoud for two terms (from 2009 to 2015), during which the laboratory obtained positive results twice within the framework of the periodic evaluation carried out by the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The thanks for this achievement and success is due to the efforts of all members of the laboratory who contributed effectively to the cultural and scientific activities that the laboratory has supervised since the date of its founding, represented by organizing national and international conferences, study days, and various research projects such as the partnership with the French National Center for Scientific Research, which culminated by holding an international conference on “Endowment” on June 23-24, 2014, and cooperation with the Turkish University of Uludağ in Bursa in organizing an international conference on Emir Abd el-Kader at the end of November 2015. In addition to publishing many books and scientific research, also hosting researchers and professors from national and international universities such as Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, France, Japan, Denmark and Spain. The laboratory’s members are credited with publishing a peer-reviewed international academic journal concerned with social and historical studies entitled “Al Naciriya,” of which ten volumes have so far been published regularly and are available in their digital version on the Algerian portal for scientific journals. Pursuant to Ministerial Resolution No. 586 of June 21, 2018 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Algeria, it has been classified in the national rank “C”, and it has also been classified and indexed in many international universities and global databases.
