The Director of the Social and Historical Research Laboratory at Mascara University welcomes you. He is pleased to introduce this research institution.
The laboratory was established pursuant to a ministerial decision issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under No. 222 dated 07/13/2009 AD, it is composed of four research teams:" The Religious Practices in Algeria," headed by Prof. Jaadouni Zahra. "The Middle Maghreb: History and Civilization,” headed by Prof. Belal Rim. “The Algerian Youth Linguistic Dictionary," headed by Prof. Djilani Koubibi Maachou, and "The Maghrebs: History and Civilization," headed by Prof. Khelifi Bachir.
The laboratory is situated in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the third university pole in Sidi Said in the city of Mascara.
More than eighty researchers are affiliated with the laboratory in various scientific specializations in the field of humanities and social sciences, most of whom hold the status of permanent members. They are a category of researchers belonging to the University of Mascara, including teachers with the rank of full and assistant professor, also the doctoral students registered in the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences benefit from membership in the laboratory; as temporary researchers, and other participating researchers belonging to other national universities. The laboratory was headed by Prof. Abid Boudaoued for two terms between 2009 and 2015, during which the laboratory obtained positive results twice within the framework of the periodic evaluation carried out by the General Directorate of Scientific Research at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. After that, Prof. Ouddene Boughoufala headed the laboratory for two terms until the end of his duties in the year 2023.
The credit for all of this is due to the efforts of all members of the laboratory who contributed effectively to the cultural and scientific activities that the laboratory has supervised since the date of its founding, represented by organizing national and international conferences, study days, and various research projects such as the partnership with the French National Center for Scientific Research, which culminated by holding an international conference on “Endowment,” and cooperation with the Turkish University of Uludağ in Bursa in organizing an international conference on Emir Abd el-Kader at the end of November 2015. In addition to printing many books and scientific research, and hosting researchers and professors from national and international universities such as: Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, France, Japan, Denmark and Spain.
The laboratory’s members are credited with publishing a peer-reviewed international academic journal concerned with social and historical studies entitled “Al Naciriya,” of which ten volumes have so far been published regularly and are available in their digital version on the Algerian portal for scientific journals. Pursuant to Ministerial Resolution No. 586 of June 21, 2018 issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Algeria, it has been classified in the national rank “C”, and it has also been classified and indexed in many international universities and global databases.
In the future, the laboratory looks forward to continuing the activities of scientific research by organizing more scientific events, and honoring and celebrating Algerian and international academic figures in human and social studies. In this regard, it took the initiative to honour a group of researchers, including the historian Prof. Nasser Al-Din Saidouni, the pioneer of Ottoman studies in Algeria, and the brilliant historian Prof. Randi Deguilhem; who is prominent in the field of “Endowment” research in Western universities, beside the prominent philosopher Prof. Mohammad Arkoun, Prof. Fatima Belhaouari, and Prof. Ada Ben Daha.
