On Saturday 17 September 2022, the Rector of Mustapha Stambouli-Mascara University, Pr BENTATA Samir, received Pr BADDARI Kamel, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, accompanied by a number of executives from the Ministry. The local authorities were also present, notably the Secretary General representing the Wali of Mascara. Also present were university officials, teachers of various grades, union representatives, students and the press.
The Minister started his visit by inaugurating the complex of research laboratories of the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences. He listened attentively to the explanations of the teachers in charge of this scientific laboratory and showed a particular interest in the expected results and their effects on the students and the university in general, and on the economic development of the country in particular.
Thereafter, the Minister visited the new 2000-bed girls’ university residence named “TEKFI Mohamed”, located in the new university pole and equipped with several services. This achievementis part of the country’spolicy to improve living conditions in university residences. The Minister insisted on the implementation of all the services thatwould help to dynamise university life and aimat the excellence of the students, which will result in the development of the Algerian university on all fronts.
The Rector of the University, accompanied by the Minister, thenwent to the Central Library wherethey met teachers and students of the University of Mascara who presented their scientific projects and inventions. The Minister insisted on their real and effective exploitation in the field, asking for more effort from the university actors.
At the end of his visit, the Minister went to the conference room with the Rector of the University. The latter gave a speech in which here ferred to the main achievements of Mustapha Stambouli University in recentyears, support in this presentation with statistics on students as well as the main agreements concluded with economic partners, Algerian, Arab, European and American universities.
In his turn, the Minister took the floor to proclaim the official opening of the academic year 2022/2023 insisting on the preponderant place of the university in the midst of the social and economic changes that the world is experiencing.
A lecture was given by the Dean of the Faculty of Economic, Commercial and Management Sciences of the University of Mascara, entitled “the challenges and perspectives of the Algerian university and its responsibility to wards future generations”.
The Minister gave the floor to the different social partners and actors of the higher education sector and then answered all the concerns that were presented to him. Finally, he informed the audience of the forth coming creation of workshops in which all the actors of the Algerian university would participate in order to raise it to wards excellence.
