It is a multidisciplinary laboratory, grouping together five branches of geology, namely micro- and macro-palaeontology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, hydrogeology, and cartography. The team's main aims and objectives are to: Train young masters and PhD students (field and laboratory training) in the five geology disciplines mentioned above; Carry out geological reconnaissance of sedimentary terrains outcropping in the western Saharan Atlas (Ksour Mountains) and the Saharan platform; Select key areas for detailed bench-to-bench geological surveys. Systematic paleontological collections; Make precise systematic determinations (dating, paleoecology, and reference collection); Conduct sedimentological studies and paleoenvironmental reconstructions; Review the ages of the terrains studied to help revise geological maps. Carry out precise hydrogeological studies.
