Welcome to the Department of Agronomic Sciences

The Department of Agronomic Sciences establishes itself as a leading academic and scientific hub dedicated to the promotion of knowledge, research, and innovation, while providing high-level training across the three university cycles as well as in agronomic engineering. Its training offer is part of an integrated approach based on the major ecological factors of sustainability, notably water, soil, plants, and animals.

The experimental farm affiliated with the department represents a tool of primary importance for both education and scientific research. It offers students, teachers, and researchers an environment conducive to the acquisition and deepening of both theoretical and practical knowledge under the supervision of qualified and experienced staff. As a privileged space for experimentation and research, it also provides an appropriate framework for the preparation of dissertations and final theses.

The Department of Agronomic Sciences offers training across several fields of knowledge, namely Earth and Universe Sciences (STU), Life and Natural Sciences (SNV), Veterinary Medicine, and Agronomic Engineering. It thus provides diverse training at the bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and engineering levels.

In the field of Earth and Universe Sciences (STU), the department offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Hydrogeology. In the field of Life and Natural Sciences (SNV), the bachelor’s programs include the specialties of Animal Production, Plant Protection, and Plant Production, while the master’s programs focus on Applied Phytopharmacy, Perennial Crops, Animal Production and Nutrition, and Plant Protection. In addition to these programs, the department also offers training in Veterinary Medicine and Agronomic Engineering, which further strengthen its scientific, technical, and professional orientation.

In addition to these graduate programs, the department also offers doctoral training in “Plant Production and Protection” and in “Hydrogeology.”

All these training programs are delivered in close alignment with modern and innovative techniques.

The department adopts a policy of openness toward the socio-economic environment, both in the Mascara region and throughout the country, with the aim of preparing graduates for socio-professional integration through numerous internships and educational field trips. The quality of the training provided is reflected in a high success rate, opening the way for our graduates to many employment opportunities in the agricultural sector, which is currently experiencing strong development in our country in general and in Mascara Province in particular.

In this context, it is important to emphasize that the department, under the leadership of the Dean, the Vice-Deans, as well as the Specialization Coordinators and the Program Coordinator, benefits from the support of a diligent and dedicated administrative staff who ensure the smooth functioning of the department in their respective areas of responsibility.

Finally, in my name and on behalf of all the teachers and administrative staff, I wish all our students great success.
