Established in 2019 by UNESCO’s Executive Board, the UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize for Basic Sciences, whose statute is attached, aims to promote and reward excellence in the basic sciences, including chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology, which are essential for advancing innovation and sustainable development. It aims to recognise major achievements in development, dissemination and international cooperation in the field of basic sciences.
UNESCO invites its Member States, including Algeria, in consultation with their National Commissions, as well as non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO and active in the fields covered by the Prize, UNESCO Chairs, Category 2 Centres, international scientific unions, and universities, to nominate individual candidates for the 4th edition of the International UNESCO–Russia Mendeleev Prize in Basic Sciences.
In this context, two (02) laureates will be awarded an amount of 250,000 USD each.
