We are pleased to announce the launch of the call for applications for the 2026 cycle of the UNITWIN / UNESCO Chairs Programme. Universities and research institutions are invited to submit their applications for the 2026 cycle through the online portal, available from 1 to 30 April 2026.
In this regard, we kindly request that applications be communicated to us by 20 April 2026 at the latest, so that they can be validated by the Algerian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture before online submission.
Please note that the number of applications is limited to two (02) per country, with the possibility of considering a third application under specific conditions, either for the creation of a UNITWIN network or for submitting a proposal already presented in a previous cycle.
Applications will be evaluated based on specific criteria, with special attention to:
- A clear link with UNESCO’s holistic approach.
- Priority: given to interdisciplinary and innovative projects, as well as those addressing gender equality issues.
- Scientific openness: commitment to open access, open educational resources, and open science principles.
